The second section of the Pilgrim trail between Skara dnd Husaby goes between Dala kvarn in the lush nature reseve Mariedalsån and its ravine in Lundsrunn and the historical Husaby church. It goes through a green and magical nature reserve and through open fields. On the hike you will pass several historical sights.

The section goes on gravel roads and forets paths, and the start goes through a hilly nature reserve. After the first part the walking trail is easy to walk without larger height differences until you reach the goal at Husaby church. Hijking this section you will experience the most picturesque part of the trail in the nature reserve Mariedalsån where you walk along the stream and ravine aswell as open fields. The section offers highlights such as Mariedals castle and Ova church. 

Surface: asphalt, grass roads, gravel roads and forest paths. 

Don’t miss: Mariedals castle – the pink castle is a beautiful scenery when you walk out of the village Lundsbrunn. 

Starting point: The section starts at Dala kvarn by the nature reserve Mariedalsån in Lundsbrunn. Closest bus stop: Dala 

The section ends by Husaby church in Husaby. Closest bus stop: Husaby church (seldomly used) or Kollängen (frequently used) 2 km from the end of the section.

Time: Approximately 3 h, excluding stops 

Accommodation: In Lundbsrunn you can stay at Lundsbrunn resort & spa or Lundsbrunns B&B 1,5 km from the start of the section. In Husaby you can stay at Biskopsborgens B&B a couple of hundred metres from the end of the section.

About Difficulty Grading

The grading of the trails is based on a common national standard. If you want to read more about this, visit the National Framework for Hiking Trails.

Even and firm ground: The terrain is generally flat. The hike requires no need to use your hands for support. No obstacles. Bridges are always present when crossing waterways.

Uneven and/or soft ground: Some changes in elevation. Certain sections may require hand support to maintain balance. There may be obstacles such as low stiles and short stairs. Minor obstacles like stones and roots. Boardwalks are present.

Loose or slippery ground combined with steep sections: Technical parts require hand support. There may be obstacles such as high stiles and longer stairs. Frequent sections with stones and/or roots. Boardwalks with deeper surrounding water.

Note: One or more of these features may be present along the trail section.
