The tour takes you up to a wonderful view from Spetalsberget. It is named after the leper hospital that existed in the area during the Middle Ages. St. Jörgen's hospital was probably in the meadow behind the current Lödöse Museum. As you enjoy your view from Spetalsberget, take the time to breathe in all the views. There are several views over the river and one where you have a great view over Lödöse. Lödöse was Sweden's first port to the west and Gothenburg's predecessor. Lödöse Museum's exhibitions show in an exemplary way the important medieval history of the city.

You go via cycle path and then follow the old church road through Garn towards Tunge church. Just before Tunge, the trail crosses the new highway. From Tunge kyrka, the trail follows smaller roads towards Göta, where it then diverges into forest and beautiful nature in the direction of Lake Ryrsjön. Ryrsjön is a nice place to rest and take your packed lunch. Before Lilla Edet, the trail crosses the highway again and then goes to Fuxerna church where the stage ends and the next one begins. If you sneak a start on the next stage through Lilla Edet, the parish home, the famous salmon fishery, the country's oldest lock and the lock area await. In Lilla Edet there is access to full service and communications.

About Difficulty Grading

The grading of the trails is based on a common national standard. If you want to read more about this, visit the National Framework for Hiking Trails.

Even and firm ground: The terrain is generally flat. The hike requires no need to use your hands for support. No obstacles. Bridges are always present when crossing waterways.

Uneven and/or soft ground: Some changes in elevation. Certain sections may require hand support to maintain balance. There may be obstacles such as low stiles and short stairs. Minor obstacles like stones and roots. Boardwalks are present.

Loose or slippery ground combined with steep sections: Technical parts require hand support. There may be obstacles such as high stiles and longer stairs. Frequent sections with stones and/or roots. Boardwalks with deeper surrounding water.

Note: One or more of these features may be present along the trail section.
